After nine weeks locked-up with a group of total strangers,
23-year-old Brian Dowling has become the Winner of Big Brother
series-2. The camp Irishman beat ten other contestants to
the sole prize of seventy 'grand, but the contest was really
only between himself and Helen towards the end.
Although it was predicted that Helen might gain ground on
Brian in 'last minute' public voting, he maintained the lead
that he'd held in the opinion polls all week.
In our most recent poll, which lasted for a week and asked
'Who Do You Want To Win?', the percentages after over-4,000
people had voted went like this:
Elizabeth: 3%
Dean: 4%
Helen: 40%
Brian: 53%
These figures were almost bang-on, as after 7.2 million votes
in the public telephone vote that decided the Winner, the
final figures were roughly:
Elizabeth: just over 1% (73,482
votes)
Dean: almost 4% (269,489
votes)
Helen: 37% (2,680,463
votes)
Brian: 58% (4,231,660
votes)
So, it wasn't that close in the end and Brian ran away with
the victory. Well done Brian! Also, congratulations must go
to Helen for having recovered from facing the public eviction
vote on the first occasion and lasting right upto the final
two. A worthy runner-up.
