Day 10 - Chateau le foot, All efforts into the medical task
<<
In the morning it was time to do the weekly shopping list and once
again, it turned into a bit of an ordeal. This was partly because
things were tight, as the group's budget was down to just £49
for the week. There was conflicting opinion on whether they could
afford meat or not, causing Paul to suggest that he would get kill
a chicken from the coop if they didn't buy any.
Later,
most members of the group were either swotting-up or practising
the task (except Helen, who dozed off.) They were deadly serious
about passing this time! Whilst out in the garden, some of the guys
discussed how the 2nd week would be a good test of people's stamina.
Mid-afternoon and while Bubble had gone back to bed, the others
had lunch. Over their meal the subject of catching your parents
'at it' was brought up and Brian put his foot in it by making a
comment about Dean's parents; his Father had died some time ago.
Dean wasn't offended though and during the conversation, actually
realised he was just about old enough to be Brian's Dad! Upon realising
this, the 37-year-old entrepreneur was a bit 'gutted.
Just before 4pm, Bubble came to the diary room to talk about the
group discussion the previous night in which he talked about his
daughter. He said that he'd got choked-up and therefore couldn't
explain himself as well as he would have liked. Big Brother offered
support if ever Bubble needed a chat.
In the evening, after much medical practice, the group were set
a short task: to crush 60kg of grapes with their feet and bottle
the juice. For every 3 bottles they produced, Big Brother would
reward them with a bottle of wine. Brian joined Helen, Amma and
Penny in a small paddling pool to crush the grapes with their bare
feet, while the others collected and bottled the juice. They managed
to collect 18 bottles in total, earning the housemates 6 bottles
of wine for their efforts.
Shortly after 9pm, the group sat down to a meal of pork and rice
prepared by Helen and Paul. They had decided not to drink the wine
until later, choosing to drink the grape juice that Big Brother
allowed them to keep. However, after consuming loads of it someone
remembered that everyone's feet had been in it; prompting people
to remember that they had calluses, varrucas and corns! Eww...gross!
The evening ended with everyone pretty much sloshed from drinking
the wine provided by Big Brother. They all sat around the sofa area
belting out songs and Penny gave their rendition of 'Big Spender'
a big finish. Afterwards everyone rolled-around in high spirits;
a great bonding moment, just a shame it doesn't last when the drink
wears off. Late to bed, Amma and Elizabeth had a lengthy chat whilst
sat in the same bed, discussing the previous days 'heavy' group
discussion and the different housemates personalities. Expect Elizabeth's
next nominations to be identical to Amma's!
