The CBB7 Finalists' Percentages, Weighted By BBO
At the end of a series of Big Brother, Channel 4 always issues
percentages for the Finalists which simply don't add-up. This
makes it difficult to judge how close the result was in reality.
For example, the figures released for the Celebrity Big Brother
7 week-long public vote 'to win' were:
Ivana Trump: 5.74% (7th Place, evicted two days before
the Finale)
Nicola Tappenden: 6.15% (6th Place, evicted two days
before the Finale)
Stephanie Beacham 8.6% (5th Place)
Jonas Altberg: 12.9% (4th Place)
Vinnie Jones: 20.2% (3rd Place)
Dane Bowers: 34.1% (Runner-up)
Alex Reid: 65.9% (Winner)
...which adds-up to 153.6%. See what we mean? The reason
the figures don't add-up is because when housemates leave
the House, the vote counts are all taken at different times
and the voting continues.
So, we've taken the trouble to 'weight' the figures for you,
and the result comes out like this:
Ivana Trump: 5.74%
Nicola Tappenden: 6.15%
Stephanie Beacham 7.58%
Jonas Altberg: 10.39%
Vinnie Jones: 14.17%
Dane Bowers: 19.09%
Alex Reid: 36.88%
So, the weighted figures above add-up to 100% and give you
a far more accurate idea of what everyone actually received
in the public vote.
However, just for your interest, we've removed those who
didn't make it to the Finale so that you can compare the figures
to our 'Winner' Poll, which ran for two days and began just
after Ivana and Nicola were evicted. First, here are the above
figures, weighted to take into account just those who made
it to the Finale:
Stephanie: 8.60%
Jonas: 11.79%
Vinnie: 16.08%
Dane: 21.67%
Alex: 41.86%
And our Poll result:
Stephanie: 10%
Vinnie: 11%
Dane: 18%
Jonas: 18%
Alex: 43%
So, the Poll got the Winner and 5th Place housemates in the
right place, and showed similar percentages for Alex and Dane
to the (weighted) figures given above.
