Alex Reid: The Gambler
Alex told a story about losing a substantial bet this afternoon,
but his peers weren't entirely sure that he didn't exaggerate
the tale for effect.
Dubbing it one of his biggest regrets, the cage fighter claimed
that he once staked £10,000 on a horse at the odds of
50/1, which would have netted him half-a-million 'quid profit.
Vinnie was immediately sceptical, suggesting that a bookie
wouldn't have taken such a big bet on an outsider, and Steph
laughed at the notion that he'd staked so much cash but didn't
do an 'each-way' bet. Vinnie was also wary of the claim because
Alex didn't seem to know by how much the nag in question was
beaten.
Greyhound breeder Vinnie then started taking about scams,
and claimed that he and some of his mates were once taken
for £125,000, telling Alex that he shouldn't feel bad
because it looks like he was duped by professional scammers
too.
"If it looks to good to be true, it is," concluded
Alex, evidently having become wise after the event.
A little while later, when alone with Vin, Dane said to the
moody movie star: "I'm not having that bet bit... a ten
'grand bet?" In response, an equally sceptical Vinnie
suggested: "He may have had a 'grand".
