Experiment Result: Spinach Makes You Stronger
As lab technician George readied the inaugural experiment,
Faria was called upon to become the first participant.
Upon entering the lab she was required to don a pair of white
boxing gloves, then asked to punch a special power-measuring
machine, kind-of like the ones you see at fairgrounds but
without the bells and whistles.
Big Brother had given Faria some advice inspired by the legendary
boxer Muhammad Ali: 'Remember, float like a butterfly, sting
like a bee'. However, it might have been more helpful to have
said: 'Smack it for all you're worth!'
An average strength rating was recorded after three attempts,
and the London lass then moved on to the next stage of the
experiment.
"You must eat nothing but spinach all day. You have
to eat spinach every 15 minutes, and you must wheel your spinach
with you at all times," said George, reading from a laminate.
The purpose of this experiment was to find out if, like Popeye,
eating spinach really makes you stronger. Of course, it probably
doesn't make you feel too good if you eat it all day long,
but incredibly it did make her slightly stronger.
In fairness though, this was probably more to do with the
fact that during her first attempt, pre-vegetables, one of
her punches landed off-target on the measuring machine.
So, experiment No. 1 was a success, but the former PA is
probably going to need that extra strength to get her to the
loo and back several times today!
