The First Live Task - The Result
The group's first live task (forgetting the bed making task)
went ahead tonight, out in the garden, in the piddling rain!
A two-stage task, first the group had to take turns to hook
ducks from the swirling swimming pool, to earn themselves
time for the second part of the task.
Each yellow duck scored 15 seconds and each red duck would
earn them 30 seconds. At the end of part one, the group's
combined score, having hooked all four reds and sixteen yellows,
was 6 minutes.
So, on to the second part of the live task.
They had to nominate one person to control a mini-digger,
which would be used to pick-up baskets of food and land them
in a target area. They would have 6 minutes in-which to get
as much shopping across as possible.
Wearing a red clown's type wig, Goldie was the nominated
driver and after watching a safety video and donning a workman's
hard hat, part two of the task began.
Manipulating the digger's levers, his control of the bucket
was a little shaky to start with. However, he soon got the
hang of things and was urged by Mel and Sue to, "Go for
the loo rolls!"
One-by-one the baskets found their way to the target area
and then the Bristol DJ managed to bring two baskets across
in one go. "Notice the pincer movement here?!" declared
the cocky contestant, punching the air in satisfaction at
his own efforts.
His ego-boosting antics were justified however, as on the
next scoop of the bucket he managed to grab no less than three
baskets and successfully deposited them in the target area.
With just 30 seconds to go, there was a load of shrapnel
left on the ground and in trying to grab the remaining veg,
he scooped-up a large mound of grass instead. Oops!
So, thanks to Goldie's excellent co-ordination, the group
had passed their task; possibly the best task ever to feature
on a UK Big Brother show?
Well done guys!
