Luke's Not A Bad Bet

We previously backed Kat to Win Big Brother 9, but we've just placed a bet on Luke, someone who many fans think is really entertaining and harmless.

Please see our Betting Zone section to see what we've done, however you may wish to do things the other way around if you fancy having some fun and placing a little bet on the outcome of this series.

At today's odds, unless you're convinced that Kathreya is going to win (then you should stake as much as you can afford to lose on her), it wouldn't be a bad idea to place a £25 Bet on Luke, which would give you a potential profit of either £75 (plus your stake back) with Paddy Power, or nearly £88 (plus your stake back) if you choose to use Blue Square.

The difference in the potential profit detailed above is because, at the time of writing, the latter company is offering better odds: 7/2 versus 3/1 on Luke winning BB9.

Then, you could stake your Free £25 Bet – which both companies give you – on Kathreya to Win BB9 at the current odds of 11/8, just to get a few quid back if she goes all the way. Actually, at those odds you'd win almost £35.

So, you would mainly be backing Luke in a bid to make a decent profit, but as we've pointed-out above, you wouldn't lose financially if either housemate won. Indeed, you would ultimately be either £88 in profit if Luke won, or £10 in profit if Kat won (provided you take Blue Square's better odds). You stand to lose just £25 if neither wins.

Of course, if you choose to place the same bets with both online bookies mentioned above this afternoon, you would pretty-much double your potential profit. In that case, you would be risking a total of £50 for a potential profit of either £163 (plus your stakes back) or £20, depending who won. That's not bad given that Kat and Luke are so far ahead of everyone else at this stage of the game; their odds will only get lower if their popularity continues though.

Just one thing, you can always forget Kat and just back Luke with your £25 stake and your Free £25 Bet if you like. In this instance, you would be risking just £25 for a potential profit of £175 with Blue Square, and £150 with Paddy Power. And there's nothing to stop you doing this with both bookies either, for a potential profit of £325 on an outlay of £50 (which you get back if you win).
