Mario Clashes With Darnell Over Music Task
The housemates were set a 'musical' group task today –
one that will last the entire series – but Mario managed
to cause some friction by trying to dominate things. Fancy
that?
To start things off, the housemates had to learn to play
'Oh When The Saints Go Marching In', and having chosen Darnell
to collect the task instructions from the Diary Room, they
elected the songwriter as conductor of the Big Brother Orchestra.
Big Bro provided a load of instruments in the storeroom for
the housemates to choose from, and whatever they picked, they
would have to stick-with for the rest of the series.
However, while some of the group got to grips with their
instrument quickly, others were having trouble, notably Luke
who moaned, "I can't blow that instrument (trumpet);
I'm winded after seven blows". The complete weed!
But while bossman Darnell tried to ensure that everyone was
practising properly (like he was supposed to), Mario was still
fussing over who-had-what instrument and trying to run the
show.
And things got heated when the big guy started waffling about
how they need to pass the task (rather than just getting on
with it), prompting a frustrated Darnell to say, "You're
killing me".
But the friction between the pair dragged on-and-on, with
Mario challenging Darnell's authority and calling him patronising,
the latter eventually snapping, "Trust me, you don't
want to go there with me".
During their little spat, Mario claimed that he just wanted
to make sure everyone was happy, but Darnell accused the wannabe
leader of trying to make him look incompetent. It eventually
fizzled out and they cracked on.
Although Mario was understandably keen to succeed having
failed two tasks already, he really should learn to recognise
and accede to authority, which in this case was held by conductor
Darnell, like it or not.
