One Of The Fish Has Died

Sadly there has been a death in the Big Brother House today, for to paraphrase Monty Python, one of the goldfish has ceased to be!

This morning, Rachel was distraught to find that one of the fish – originally called Gilbert and Grape but later renamed Heaven and Hell – was swimming on its side. "It's too hot in here for them," she declared, even though the temperature in the House was within allowable limits.

However, despite Rachel's pleas of, "Please, please, please, please, please, please don't die," one the pets finally bought it tonight after less than a week in the House.

Know-all Rex said that the group had been overfeeding the fish, while Mo wondered if they needed more air, perhaps forgetting that fishes live under water. Doh!

Mikey had previously berated his lazy peers and claimed that the wake-up alarm would stress them out, but Rex was dismissive and noted that nightclubs often have fish tanks.

Various fishkeeping forums have gone into a bit of a flap over the matter, claiming that the pets didn't have enough water, filtration or oxygen, while other lay experts reckon that Rachel killed it by changing the water too often.

Here at BBO we don't know, all we know is that fish can suddenly get ill and 'cark it', however well you look after them. That said, frankly, whoever decided to give the housemates a couple of fish to look-after was a bit misguided. After all, not even wet-as-a-fish Rachel could look after them properly.

Let's just hope the poor little blighter has gone to a better plaice! <Groan>
