Big Brother 9 Start Date Announced
The next series of Big Brother UK will start even later than
it did last year, and it's a mammoth 13 weeks long again...
so you'd better start getting some rest in preparation, BB
fans!
Series 7 and 8 both ran for around 13 weeks, but prior to
that, the series were up to 11 weeks long, with the original
show in 2000 lasting just 9 weeks.
Frankly, here at Big Brother Online we feel that this year's
show should definitely have been shorter and faster-paced
to sustain the momentum; in fact we've been saying that for
two years now.
However, we understand that Channel 4 don't want to be seen
to be taking a step backwards, which might suggest withering
popularity. But, with Big Brother 8 having reached a similar
number of viewers to BB7 at peak, effectively the show is
as popular as ever, despite the format being a creaky 8-years-old
now.
Anyway, for all the fans who still haven't booked their summer
holiday and have been waiting patiently for more news on BB9,
you need to take into account that you won't be able to get
away until early September without missing any of it.
Big Brother 9 starts at 9pm on Thursday the 5th of June 2008,
a week later than last year, which is mainly so that Channel
4 won't have to go head-to-head with ITV's 'Britain's Got
Talent'. The series will end on Friday the 5th of September
2008.
Dunno' about you, but we can't wait for it to get
going now!
