The Finalists' Finishing Percentages, Weighted By BBO
Each year when the series ends, Channel 4 releases the eviction
percentages for all the finalists, but they never add up.
Doh! So, we've weighted the figures to give you more of an
idea what actually went-on at the Big Brother 8 Finale.
The reason they don't add-up is because when Channel 4 gives
a percentage, they often don't take into account and remove
the percentages of the finalists that have already left.
This is especially relevant because the vote counts are taken
at different times and the voting continues, such as when
Ziggy's percentage was announced but voting continued on Liam,
Samanda and Brian.
It's hard to explain, but in the case of the BB8 Finale last
night, if Brian and Samanda got 60.3% and 39.7% respectively
as reported, what's left for the other four finalists?
So, we've worked things out for you more accurately, taking
into account and removing the lower-placed finalists at each
stage.
Channel 4 gave the figures as: Jonty - 3%, Carole - 4.9%,
Ziggy - 15.3%, Liam - 19.1%, Twins - 39.7%, Brian - 60.3%
However, we believe that the below figures are closer to
the actual public vote, and whatsmore, they add-up to 100%!
Jonty - 3%
Carole - 4.9%
Ziggy - 14.1%
Liam - 14.9%
Twins - 25.1%
Brian - 38%
So, it seems that it was very close between Ziggy and Liam
after all, and evidently the latter received relatively few
votes in the time between Ziggy's position and his own being
announced.
We can't explain, however, the fact that the Top Two came
the other way around to what everyone (bookies, tabloids,
BB websites, the majority of fans) expected.
