Is Brian The Winner Of Big Brother 8?
We wrote this
article about Liam on Day 31 (Week 4), around 10 days after
he was awarded £100,000 by his peers. The article suggested
that the 22-year-old possibly had the game all sewn-up, and
was on his way to winning another £100k, that being
the actual prize money.
However, we're now wondering if Brian has overtaken
the tree surgeon, and is on his way to scooping the prize
money with 6 weeks to go.
We say this based on Polls that we've run over the past few
weeks, first asking who you'd want to win out-of Brian, Gerry,
Liam and Ziggy. At the time, Liam was the top male, followed
by Ziggy. However, Brian's popularity hadn't really got going
at that stage.
We then ran a Poll asking which of the girls, from a list
of eight, would fans want to win if the game suddenly ended;
Amanda and Chanelle were joint-top in that Poll.
Finally, we put Amanda, Chanelle, Liam and Ziggy up-against
each other in another hypothetical Poll, and Liam came-out
13% ahead of Amanda as the likely Winner from the possible
'Final Four'.
However, in the ensuing weeks, Brian has become much more
popular due to his dippy but funny behaviour. So, we've just
run a Poll pitting Brian against Liam, and the 19-year-old
data entry clerk came-out top with 60% of the vote.
Some say that it would send-out a terrible message if Brian
were to win: that you don't really need an education to get
on in life. Others, however, think that Brian is playing a
game and is really very clever; his occasional use of some
big words apparently contradicting his usual dumb-act etc.
Still, there's a great number of fans who are happy to just
enjoy Brian's harmless personality, defined by his sometimes
awkward demeanour, silly actions, 'Jade style' comments, apparent
naivety and occasional vulnerability.
Liam is a genuine and nice guy sure enough, but so is Brian,
someone who can also entertain in his own 'daft-as-a-brush'
way. Plus, not that he courts trouble, but Brian has stood-up
to Charley in a slanging match, which can't be said of the
majority of his peers.
So, seeing as Brian is the current bookies' favourite, you
may wish to have a flutter on the big man before his odds
plummet? Admittedly, there are more male contestants set to
join the game, but they would have to go a long way to beat
Brian, or Liam for that matter.
At the time of writing (20th July, Day 52), Brian's odds
as the possible Outright Winner of BB8 are 8/15, meaning that
a £25 Bet would net you a profit of £13, plus
your stake back. Obviously, with such low odds it pays to
put a larger stake down, and a £100 bet would see a
potential profit of £53. £250 staked would see
decent £133 profit, but then you could lose
your entire stake.
However, even though the Polls say Brian is very popular,
things can change and you may wish to back Liam instead. His
odds are still great at 9/2 (a £25 stake wins you almost
£113 profit), but if you're a new customer to online
