Carole's On The Case
Tonight, there were several conversations about the authenticity
of fake newcomer Pauline, with Carole being the most suspicious
about the brunette newbie.
The oldest housemate gave the so-called Aussie waitress the
third degree, asking about her job, her family, whether she's
visited the UK before and even the colour of the Diary Room
back home.
But it was a conversation about her home town that caused
the most suspicion, after Pauline said she lived in Walla
Walla in the state of New South Wales.
Upon hearing the news, Carole asked if she'd ever been to
Sydney, but when Pauline replied in the negative, the makeshift
Miss Marple was surprised even though it's over 300 miles
away.
Carole also found it strange that Pauline had never visited
Australia Zoo, home of the late 'Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin,
although that's over 800 miles away from her supposed home
town.
However, Carole was actually suspicious about the fact that
Pauline didn't seem to know much about Jervis Bay, the scene
of devastating bushfires a few years ago.
"Every Australian I've come across has known it,"
said Carole about the place, trying to put doubt in the mind
of fellow cynics Tracey and Charley. Granted, it is
in the same state as Walla Walla, but that state spans a distance
of around 750 miles.
However, there's one aspect of her character that Thaila
definitely had Carole fooled over, and that was her realistic
Aussie accent, as the one-time campaigner confidently declared
to her peers, "She IS Australian".
Think again, Sherlock!
