This Year's Charities
This year, the cost of voting during Big Brother 8 has been
halved, and Channel 4 claims that they will make no money
from the calls made by fans in the run-up to the weekly evictions.
The following three charities, however, will benefit
financially:
Crisis - the national charity for single
homeless people, working all-year-round to help vulnerable
and marginalised people get through the crisis of homelessness,
fulfil their potential and transform their lives.
Help the Hospices - the national charity
for the hospice movement. The charity supports local hospices
in their vital work on the frontline of caring for people
facing the end of their life and those who love them.
Samaritans - which provides confidential,
non-judgemental, emotional support 24-hours-a-day for people
experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those
which could lead to suicide.
10p/10c from each vote registered will go to the above charities,
split equally between them when the series ends. So, it's
good to know that by getting involved in the voting and making
a call or two, you won't be lining Channel 4's pockets but
helping a charity instead.
