Lesley Has Quit The Game
Following in the footsteps of CBB5 housemates Donny Tourette,
Ken Russell and Leo Sayer (not to mention numerous others
before that), Lesley has now quit the game.
The former recruitment consultant had previously threatened
to leave on two occasions, but was advised by Big Brother
to 'think it over' on both. However yesterday (Day 10), the
60-year-old visited the Diary Room to once again say that
she wanted to go.
"I would like to leave here by bedtime tonight,"
she told Big Bro, further stating that she had stood by her
word to continue for a bit longer. Giving BB an ultimatum,
Lesley demanded, "I want to leave within a couple hours".
However, the arrival of Gerry and Seany put the mockers on
that; indeed, the fact that Seany ripped her bedclothes off
last night may have had something to do with her decision
to finally quit?
So, this morning Lesley declared that she didn't want to
spend another day in the Big Brother House, and duly left.
However, this was not before saying goodbye to her peers,
telling them to make the most of their stay and urging Nicky
to have more confidence in herself.
Talking to Big Brother in the Diary Room, Lesley said that
she was sad to be leaving, but glad she'd had a chance to
say goodbye.
When asked by the all-seeing entity why she was feeling sad,
Lesley replied, "Well I made, not friendships, never
got anywhere like that, but you know I've formed slight bonds
with people and they were lovely and gracious". Then,
through tears, the Gloucestershire gran stated that she would
particularly miss Tracey. She was also fond of new boy Gerry.
About her decision to go, Les said, "My reasons are
that I have been here ten days: I have, during that time,
contributed and have felt able to do so. I feel that I contributed
well, but my strength and energy in that department is running
out".
"I enjoyed the challenge and the process... of coping
in a situation that was so alien to my nature," said
the second person to exit the House so far this series, before
thanking Big Bro for the opportunity.
That's the thing though, however much she says she ran out
of energy, even taking into account Lesley's age, perhaps
she shouldn't have gone in and taken the opportunity away
from someone else in the first place... especially as the
60-year-old claimed right at the end that she was a potential
Winner. Why be a quitter then?
It takes months and a lot of effort to get on Big Brother,
so to just throw it away after a week-or-so is very lame indeed.
A former Cambridge Don? Some might say she's an idiot!
In our recent 'Who Do You Want Out 1st?' Poll – which
began after Emily's expulsion – Lesley was 5th (out
of 11) on the public's Hit List, behind Ziggy, Chanelle, Shabnam
and Charley.
So, although it's a shame that she's gone, ultimately Lesley
(surname: Brain) won't really be missed.
