Big Brother Catches-up With BB3's Alex
Channel 4 caught-up with former Big Brother 3 housemate Alex
Sibley, in advance of his arrival in the Big Brother House
to help-out with the latest Time Travel task.
BB - What are you up to now? Are you a long haul
pilot like you said you would be?
No, I'm not. I had the opportunity to do it using money I
made from BB3, but I didn't do it just in case I wasn't good
at it. I now work for a housing charity where we cater for
people with limited means and disabilities. It's a real 'feel
good' thing helping people out. I've been doing that for about
three or four years now.
BB - Can you give us an idea what you've done since
you left the BB House?
I had that well-known bleach company who wanted me to do
an advert for two weeks running (Domestos). In truth, it was
me who was having the last laugh: I was always getting slated
for being clean and everything, but I was the one who got
the big contract out of it. I didn't get a year's supply of
the bleach though, I only got three bottles!
I did magazine shoots and a car programme that I'd always
wanted to do, but I was a terrible presenter at the beginning.
I took myself far too seriously when I came out, but then
I started working at the charity.
BB - Do you still get recognised?
Yeah. Every time Big Brother comes on, it starts again. People
say 'I went to school with you!' and a lot of people think
they know me from somewhere else. Some people call me Stuart
- the guy from BB5!
BB - What was the best and worst thing about doing
Big Brother?
The best thing probably was being able to afford a home with
no mortgage, and the worst thing was... well I wouldn't have
met Melanie Hill (Alex dated BB1's Mel for two years). Relationship
wise, I've only had two, maybe three since I've been out of
the House.
BB - What memories will be triggered when you go
back in the House?
It's that idea of not having to talk to anyone or pay rent,
and not being able to speak to your parents... just that feeling
of being cut-off. But it will be great being in there with
Adele.
BB - Which of this year's housemates are you looking
forward to meeting?
I'm probably looking forward to meeting Gerry because he
needs someone to talk-to with a bit of intellect, and I obviously
have that... and I'm obviously not being serious - ha ha!
Oh, and maybe Carole as well.
BB - What advice would you give to this year's housemates?
A lot of them say 'I wanna leave'. I wanted to leave loads
of times, but I would say just stay in there, it's only a
short time. And if you don't like any of the people in there,
when you come out you don't have to talk to them anymore.
The truth is, it's all harmless fun.
