Audition/ Apply For Big Brother 9 Now
Earlier than ever before, the time has come to reveal the
application procedure for the next series of Big Brother (series
9), which will take place in the summer of 2008. Woo-hoo!
We say 'woo-hoo' like we're all excited about it, but to
be honest no-one in the BBO office would ever apply to be
on Big Brother. This is mainly because BB contestants stand
to lose as much as they stand to gain these days.
What we're getting-at here is the fact that many former housemates
have given-up perfectly good jobs to go into the House, but
came-out and earned just £200 for their 'story', before
slipping back into obscurity.
Conversely, some may have earned a few 'grand from the tabloids,
but became notorious 'hate figures' during their stint on
the show. Indeed, 'Nasty Nick' Bateman is still remembered
for cheating during the original UK series, even though that
was over seven years ago!
While Big Brother 8 runners-up Sam and Amanda Marchant did
well financially and had a little taste of fame to boot, fellow
BB8 contestant Carole Vincent came out of the House and had
to sign on the dole.
And right at the beginning of the year, Big Brother's most
famous evictee Jade Goody lost her lucrative career on the
very show that made her a celebrity. Mind you, that was arguably
a case of what goes around, comes around, due to her terrible
behaviour towards Shilpa Shetty.
Still, the days of going into the House for Fame and Fortune
are largely over, but we suspect the determined amongst you
are unlikely to be put-off by that. And it's a good job too,
after all, where would we fans be without the thousands of
people prepared to be scrutinised by the nation for several
months of the year?
Anyway, let's move on to the procedure for getting-on Big
Brother 9 in 2008.
This year, as-has been the procedure since Series 5, there's
no need to fill-out an application form or send-in a video
of yourself, however like last year, there are options to
do that if you wish.
Rather, the majority of eventual housemates will be chosen
from fourteen national open Auditions, which take place six
weeks earlier than last year, from Saturday the 24th of November
2007 to Sunday the 20th of January 2008.
All you have to at the auditions is turn-up, queue with all
the other potential candidates and then 'shine' when it comes
to your turn. However, we can't be more specific on what that
actually means, mainly because the producers always say that
they don't have a set idea what they're looking-for.
That said, a mix of fun-loving, camp, dizzy, brainy, witty,
geeky, confident, annoying, funny, argumentative, obnoxious
and matriarchal/ patriarchal characters always works well.
So, just be yourself and remain hopeful that you're
what they're looking-for this year.
Word to the wise though: don't try and be something you're
not at the auditions just to gain attention, as you simply
won't be able to keep-up the act for several months if you
eventually get into the House.
We can't really give you any more advice, except to say that
in our view Big Brother 9 desperately needs some 'fun' characters.
So, if you're a bit of a laugh, a joker, something of a fool
or the life and soul of the party, please make sure the producers
get to see that.
However, if you're a bit of a prat, an exhibitionist or just
a wannabe/ attention seeker, by all means be yourself, but
after seven years of interviewing for Big Brother, the production
team really don't need to see any more naked bodies... frankly
they get to see enough t*ts during the auditions, in more
ways than one!
So, if you want to be in with a shout of winning a possible
£100k this summer, get yourself along to one of the
below venues and do your 'thang! If, however, you can't make
it to one of the open Auditions, you can always send-in an
Application Form or audition Video.
All you have to do is download this
application form, fill it in and send it together with a photo
of yourself to: BB9online@endemoluk.com If you wish,
you can also make a short vid (up to 3 minutes long) explaining
why you should be on the next series of Big Brother, and upload
it via the www.e4.com website.
Your video can be as serious or as wacky as you like, and
the maximum file size is 20Mb. The producers aren't looking
for polished clips, just something that'll give 'em a good
idea what you'd be like if you got on the show.
Videos and/ or application forms must be submitted by midnight
on Friday the 25th of January 2008, but please note that videos
will not be accepted on their own, without an application
form.
Good Luck if you decide to apply, and remember to keep in
touch with BBO and let us know how you get on. Also, if you
do make it into the Big Brother House, please put
your family and friends in touch with Big Brother Online so
that we can support you throughout the series.
