Derek is a Tory who has worked as a political
researcher and speechwriter in the House of Commons and The
Lords and has written speeches for many high-profile MPs including
Margaret Thatcher, Michael Heseltine and Neil Clark. He has
been privy to many politicians’ secrets and features in
John Major’s autobiography, Alan Clarke’s Diaries
and John Mortimer’s latest book, Where There’s A
Will. He describes himself as “strong, sensitive and humorous”
and claims that his unique selling point is that he is a very
loyal person who would never go behind anyone’s back.
Derek was the first and only black master of foxhounds and he
has Jamaican roots. |
Current Game Status/ Position: Derek came 6th (out of 16),
lasting seventy-one days from Day 1 until Day 71.
Number Of Times Faced Eviction: Five
Derek was evicted at the 10th Eviction on Friday
the 5th of August 2005 (Day 71), when up against Eugene. Del received
58% in the public vote that evicted him. He had previously survived
possible eviction at the 7th Eviction on Friday
the 15th of July (Day 50) when up against Eugene, Makosi, Orlaith,
Science and Vanessa - all six only found-out they were facing eviction
30 mins before, due to a twist - see here
and here. Ultimately,
however, it was between Makosi and Vanessa. Derek had also survived
possible eviction at the 4th Eviction on Friday
the 24th of June (Day 29), when up against Roberto. He also survived
the 3rd Eviction on Friday the 17th of June (Day
22) when up against Roberto and Sam. Prior to that, he'd survived
at the 2nd Eviction on Friday the 10th June (Day
15) when up against Ant, Craig, Kemal, Les, Makosi, Max, Rob, Saskia,
Sam, Science and Vanessa. He was up for eviction due to this,
but would have been up against just Sam if that hadn't come about.
Prior to this, Derek had not faced eviction.

1st (Day 5) - Derek was
nominated at the 1st Nominations by Anthony and Sam. Related article

2nd (Day 11) - At the second
round of Nominations, Derek was nominated by Anthony, Kemal, Makosi,
Maxwell, Sam, Saskia and Science.
3rd (Day 18) - At the third
round of Nominations, Derek was nominated by Anthony, Makosi and
Saskia. Not everyone could vote, see here.
4th (Day 25) - Del Boy was nominated
at the 4th Nominations by Anthony, Craig, Saskia, Science and Vanessa.
5th (Day 32) - He received no nominations
at the 5th round. Not everyone could vote, see here.
6th (Day 39) - Derek was nominated at the
6th Nominations by Anthony only.
7th (Day 46) - At the 7th round of Nominations
Derek received nominations from Anthony and Craig, but the actual
nominations didn't count anyway due to BB's twist - hardly anyone
