'This Morning' Role Not Enough Pay For Davina

Davina McCall, who is frankly famous for one job – fronting Big Brother UK each year – has said that she won't be replacing 'This Morning' host Fern Britton because the pay is too little.

Fern, who is reportedly paid £700,000 a year for This Morning, announced in March that she will quit the mid-morning TV show next month after 10 years as co-host.

However, that's evidently not enough dosh for Davina, who told HEAT magazine: "It's probably not enough money for me to spend that much time away from my kids. I've worked very hard so that I don't have to work very hard".

Indeed, long-time BB host Davina is onto a cushy number already, allegedly being paid over £30,000 a week for the 13-week run of Big Brother 10 (down from almost £40,000 last time due to budget cuts). The thing is, at some point Davina will be forced to consider her future career, simply because Big Bruv can't last forever.

The 41-year-old mum-of-three has already had stints at being a pop singer, Music TV presenter, Saturday night quiz host, actress (Dead Set), plus a disastrous attempt at hosting a chat show for the BBC in 2005. That show, a ratings flop, was universally panned by critics and so wasn't recommissioned.

And while we wouldn't want to suggest that Davina is slightly delusional, on the evidence of the latter we respectfully suggest that the 'shouty' host should scrap her current ambition to become a kind-of British 'Oprah' figure.

So, while Big Brother is money-for-old-rope for the excitable brunette, Davina has already proven that she's isn't exactly the most versatile presenter and might have to reconsider her 'not working hard' ethos when the doors to Elstree's most famous house finally close for good.

Hopefully that won't be for a few years yet, but in the meantime it would appear that Davina doesn't get out-of bed for jobs that involve working every day, unlike the rest of us.

Mind you, can you blame her?!
