Did Big Brother Make The Secret Mission Clear?
Fans have moaned that Big Brother didn't properly explain
the secret task to newbie housemate Hira last night, so here's
what was said in the Diary Room:
BB: "You must listen very carefully to what Big Brother
is about to say..."
BB: "Earlier tonight, you, Bea, David, Kenneth and Tom
became housemates, that's the good news. The bad news is that
you and all the new housemates face eviction next Friday.
Do you understand?"
H: "Yeah."
BB: "The only way you can save yourself is if all five
of you complete a joint secret mission. In front of you is
a box containing 8 balls; each ball corresponds to one of
the current original housemates. In a moment, Big Brother
will ask you to draw two balls from the box."
BB: "The two housemates who's names are on the ball
you pull out, must be nominated for eviction next week. If
you ensure that they are nominated, you and all the new housemates
will avoid the public vote. Do you understand?"
Hira then asked Big Brother to repeat the last line.
BB: "To clarify: if you ensure that the housemates who's
names you pull-out are nominated for eviction, they will face
the public vote instead of you".
After the balls had been chosen, Big Bro said: "Hira,
you have selected Halfwit and Noirin. Your joint mission with
your fellow new housemates is to ensure that Halfwit and Noirin
are nominated for eviction next week. How you do this, is
up to you."
Hira was confused, and Big Brother re-iterated that she must
tell her fellow newbies about the secret mission, but not
reveal it to any of the original housemates.
On reflection, Big Brother Online agrees that it wasn't entirely
clear, because if you look at Big Bro's actual words, it sounds
like the task will be passed as long as Freddie and Noirin
get nominated. In other words, as long as they receive at
least one nomination each.
However, we can confirm that's not the case, and
have explained what Big Brother actually meant to say here.
Channel 4 have also clarified the point today, telling us:
"In order to pass, the new housemates must ensure that
Freddie and Noirin receive enough nominations to put them
up for eviction".
So, Big Bruv was being a bit sloppy, but we'll give the ageing
entity the benefit of the doubt, seeing as it was celebrating
its Birthday and was possibly a bit tipsy!
