'Nasty Nick' Bateman Pulls-Out Of BB10 Appearance
Nicholas Bateman, who was ejected during the original series
of UK Big Brother for cheating, has pulled-out of Big Bro's
10th Birthday celebrations at the last minute.
The former city trader was set to return to the BB House
today (actually, it's not the same house, but we're being
pedantic!), to take part in one of the most memorable tasks
from the first series back in 2000.
However, the Daily Star has reported that Nick pulled-out
because he hadn't been offered any cash, although we understand
that he was eventually offered a token fee by the show's producers.
But it rather looks like Nick didn't know what he was actually
letting himself in for.
For, confirming that Nick had decided against making an appearance
on Big Brother 10, an insider told us: "Nick didn't want
to take part in the assault course again and was annoyed that
we'd planned it for him. But as a one-time national hate figure
who's made plenty of money from the show, what did he expect
Big Brother to do? Make it easy for him?"
During his original appearance, Nick bragged that he'd been
in the Territorial Army, a complete lie, and was made to look
like a fool when he struggled with the monkey bars on the
assault course.
The 41-year-old was subsequently thrown-out of the House
for writing notes and showing them to his peers in a bid to
influence their voting and win the £70,000 prize money.
Fittingly, it's Nick's nemesis Craig Phillips – the
eventual Winner of BB1 – that will replace him, despite
the fact that the builder and TV celebrity has bad-mouthed
the show this year, calling for it to be scrapped in its current
format.
Still, it'll be great to see the cheeky Scouser back, it's
just a shame that we'll miss-out on the opportunity to boo
and hiss at one-time real-life pantomime villain Nick one
more time.
If we were in charge, we'd have paid Nick however much he
wanted and put him up-against Craig – a fitness fanatic
to this day – in the army-style assault course, just
to see him get humiliated all over again!
