No Nominations Today, Live Noms On Wednesday
Channel 4 are planning something different for nominations
this week in a bid to shake things up.
The First Round of Big Brother 10 nominations took place
on a Tuesday (Day 6), and the Second Round took place on a
Monday (Day 12) as would normally be the case.
C4 told us that things would return to normal after the first
round (i.e. nominations on Mondays, nominees announced Tuesdays),
but it seems that the broadcaster has already changed its
mind, as the nomination procedure will take place on Wednesday
this week.
Channel 4 have remained tight-lipped about precisely what's
going-on, but reports suggest that there'll be a live nomination
process. If so, we sincerely hope that the Big Brother producers
have thought it through this time around.
We say that because in a somewhat confusing week during Big
Brother 6, the all-seeing entity lied to the housemates about
who was up, and fans had to decide which two out-of the seven
contenders would face eviction.
Vanessa Layton-McIntosh ended-up facing Makosi Musambasi,
and during a live eviction show all their peers had to stand-up
and name the person they wanted to kick-out. The problem was,
as soon as the first person named Vanessa, it was easier and
safer to for the rest of them (excepting loyal Kemal) to just
follow suit, mainly because they had to live with the survivor
afterwards.
Frankly, it wasn't very well thought-through, and in hindsight,
making them write down their chosen evictee would have made
much more sense.
A similar thing happened during Big Brother 8 a couple of
years later, when fans voted to decide which two housemates
would face eviction out-of six contenders. Then, during a
live 10th Eviction show, 'Gurus' Samanda, Tracey and Ziggy
had to choose which one got the boot.
However, Gerry Stergiopoulos made it easy for them by sacrificing
himself to save Carole Vincent, thereby watering-down the
tension created by Big Bro.
So, let's just hope that if the producers are intending
to have us on the edge of seats on Wednesday night, they've
planned the whole procedure properly this time around.
Don't forget to tune-in to the two Channel 4 shows on Wednesday
the 24th of June 2009, at 9pm and 10.55pm.
