Charlie Faces The Boot

No, the title of this article has nothing to do with the result of the Third Round of nominations, as they don't take place until Wednesday this week. Rather, it refers to the fact that Charlie Drummond's bosses are thinking of giving him the sack.

For the 22-year-old apparently forgot to mention to his employer that he was intending to go on a national television show for 13-weeks. Oops!

Big Brother contestants often take a long leave or even give-up their jobs in-order to appear on the show, but Charlie is said to have told his boss at the Newcastle Job Centre that he would be going away for just a week!

The first his angry manager learned of the customer service advisor's lie, was when she tuned-in to the Big Brother 10 Launch show and saw her employee Charlie bouncing-in. A source close to Charlie's boss told the Daily Star newspaper: "She couldn’t believe it when she saw him on the telly. It was decided he had to go”.

Apparently Charlie spent a long time on the dole himself before nabbing the job, and a former boyfriend claims that he only sought employment because he thought it would help his Big Brother application.

Commenting on Charlie's unauthorised absence, a spokesperson for the Department for Work and Pensions said: “Generally, unauthorised absence from work is a disciplinary offence for which a range of penalties apply, including dismissal".

So, although Charlie is currently the second-favourite to win as far as the bookies are concerned (Freddie is the favourite), the energetic Geordie could get the boot twice during the coming months.
