1st Nominations (Day 8)                                                                                            <<

Instead of the usual procedure whereby the housemates nominate at the beginning of the second week and someone leaves at the end of that week, the 1st nominations and evictions were at the end of week 1.

Also, the voting system was reversed for one week only, so the public were calling-in to nominate, but the housemates had the final decision.

The unsuspecting housemates were hit with the double-whammy on Day 8 that not only would someone be leaving that night, but that they would have to choose who! They were to have just 3 minutes to decide who to kick out.

In the absence of Sunita, who quit Big Brother the previous day, the two nominees were Jade and Lynne. Out of earshot of the proposed evictees, here's what the other housemates said to justify their unanimous vote:

PJ - Voted for Lynne. "We Haven't been interested in each other from day one."

Adele - Voted for Lynne. "Because I feel closer to Jade."

Alex - Voted for Lynne. "It has to be Lynne as I get on better with Jade."

Spencer - Voted for Lynne. No reason given.

Jonny - Voted for Lynne. "I feel like she's (Jade) 'me baby sister, she's dead lovable. Lynne has got a cracking sense of humour. I get on really well, I really like her, but I'm gonna go for Lynne (to be evicted.)"

Lee - Voted for Lynne. "Same here (referring to Jonny's comments)"

Kate - Voted for Lynne. "And me." NB. Kate later admitted that she was just going along with the pack.

Sandy - Voted for Lynne. "She wants to go, she just told me herself."

Alison - Voted for Lynne. "I think Jade's funny."

Some of their reasons were dangerously close to the vague 'Dean' method of choosing. Hopefully Big Brother will stamp that out next time, when they have to do nominations 'proper,' by going to the diary room individually and giving their reasons. The public will have the final say for the remaining nominations, as normal.
