The Fast And The Frankly Ridiculous

Alex and Jonny have surprised PJ and Tim by confessing to having-been 'boy racers' in their younger days.

The Sensible Club founder amazed the group with details of his first set of wheels. "I had 2000 watts' worth of speakers in my car," he announced proudly, evidently not comprehending that fact speaker watt-rating has no real impact on loudness.

Having re-iterated that he had no less than eleven speakers in his car, PJ cheekily asked the model if he also had a set of furry dice dangling from the mirror.

However, before the Essex boy racer could answer, Jonny chipped-in with, "My mini had a furry dashboard," sadly a common occurrence in the 1980's.

"My car seats are furry," Alex chipped-in, perhaps not aware that the 'hip' Saxo/Pug brigade wouldn't be seen dead with a set of 'Dad-style' furry seat covers.

Jonny then took the conversation to a new level of tackiness, by revealing how he used to drive an 'XR1i' (XR3i?) with 'go faster stripes' and bolt-on wheel arches. Those were the days!

All this talk of tacky cars was a great source of amusement to 'toff Tim, who has previously stated that he drives a BMW.

Well, he would, wouldn't he!
