Kitchen Sink Drama

Alex has been giving poor team-mate Kate cooking tips and survival advice in an attempt to wipe the pair's (very grubby) slate clean.

The Essex lad was tending to the rich team's dinner - a joint of lamb - when he spotted a forlorn-looking Kate on the other side of the divide.

Aware that her mood was most likely linked with his rich/poor side decision on Saturday night, the model took the chance to put things right between them.

Testing the waters to begin with, the Essex boy subtly threw a few cooking tips into the (strained) air. "Pick the biggest lettuce leaves," he said. And for tasty pasta dishes, "The purple ones give it flavour."

Finding to his relief that his culinary counsel was well received, the cover-boy went for the kill and apologised to Kate for the way the teams had worked out. "I'm sorry," he told her, "it's nothing personal."

And with Kate's acceptance, "It's OK, I said that I felt sorry for you," Alex was away, proving himself a real Delia Smith. "You won't be hungry, just turn your taste buds off for ten minutes," he advised on the subject of chickpeas.

And on the controversial topic of make-shift porridge, "As long as you've got banana in there, it tastes like the real thing."

Soon he was unstoppable, telling her to keep butter and milk in airtight containers and placing them in dishes of water "therefore keeping them cooler."

But after telling Kate that PJ and Spencer were "tough guys - they can handle it", he obviously felt the need to justify his decision to be on the rich side just once more. "I was turning into a skeleton and I need to put (the weight) back on. Mums always worry about their little girls, or little boys, and I didn't want that."
