'Loser' Infiltrates Polls

Graffiti, isn't it pointless? Not the impressive 'arty kind, oft-found in places dedicated to it, but the 'Dave Woz Ere 2002' kind usually seen on either yours or your neighbours' garden wall.

What point are we making? Well, it's the same mindless mentality that would lead someone to try and infiltrate our polls, something that happened last night.

To sit and click-up one of the options, such as Adele's, would be rather sad. To set-up some software specifically to do it thousands of times, well... the phrase used by Jim Carey's Ace Ventura springs to mind: "Loo-hoo-hooo-ser!"

You'd have thought that people would have better things to do, especially as the polls are just for fun. They have absolutely nothing to do with the Official voting. So, all someone has done, is forced us to change the software to prevent it.

Unfortunately, the downside of this added security means that some people, who may have never been to the site before, will be told that they have already voted.

We can't go into the technicalities of why that might be, but suffice to say, you'll find a link to click below the polls if this happens to you. Just tell us who you wanted to vote for and we'll add the vote for you.

Luckily, we are able to tell how many votes were added falsely last night, so will correct the figures when we archive the most recent poll on Tuesday. Also, we are now logging unique IP addresses for all poll participants and don't worry, if you're not upto anything, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

However, we reserve the right to report anyone who is suspected of attempting to jeopardise the accuracy of our polls to their ISP (Internet Service Provider). We know that ISP's take such misuse very seriously.

As always, it's the idiots that spoil it for everyone else. We say: Go get a life!
