No More Peas Please

Jonny decided to test his culinary skills out on Kate and PJ, after getting some early morning inspiration.

The Geordie fireman tried a taste of some soaked chickpeas in the 'poor' kitchen and was delighted, running into the garden to tell his fellow 'poor' housemates how tasty the chickpeas were.

Spencer laughed, saying, "They haven't been boiled at all!" PJ agreed, but Jonny would not be swayed. "Pease Pudding!" He declared excitedly. The others looked blank, but Kate knew the dish well and was keen to try a new variety on the basic staple of 'poor' side rations.

Jonny headed hurriedly for the kitchen to whip up some home-made Pease Pudding, convinced he just needed butter, pepper and chickpeas to put the dish together.

A few minutes later, the fireman was ready to serve up and Kate was first on his hit list. "I know I'm not gonna like it," Kate said wrinkling her nose at Jonny's effort.

"Don't spit it out," Jonny ordered, "It's Pease Pudding." One taste and the look on Kate's face said it all, but PJ still gave the dish a go.

"Bit salty," was PJ's response. No one seemed quite sure what to say until Jonny pronounced, "It's minging," and everyone laughed. "It's nowt like Pease Pudding," the cook added.

It remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will try impressing the others again with his cooking talents any time soon...
