Housemates 1, Big Brother 0

Today was the day of the most important England football game in a long time, Argentina Vs. England.

Despite some of the housemates dressing themselves in their England tops and scarves, their pleas to watch the match were dismissed by Big Brother.

Ever optimistic, Spencer made his way to the diary room to ask the all-powerful one when the big plasma screens would come on. His cheeky enquiry fell on deaf ears however.

Big Brother also played a cruel trick on the group, by calling them into the diary room and not letting them out for 40 minutes. When eventually allowed out, the excited boys rushed into the lounge to find that nothing had changed; they were expecting to find 'nosh and beers laid on for them!

Lee, who had been repeatedly requesting that they be allowed to watch the footie by mumbling into his microphone, was gutted. "This is the biggest World Cup game of 2002," he declared, demonstrating his annoyance at Big Bro.

Then, accompanied by Spencer and PJ, he tried one last ditch effort to convince the all-seeing power to relent. It was not successful, there was to be no football shown in the Big Brother house today.

So, like Dean and Bubble last year, they made their way to the garden to sit and 'pretend' that they were watching the important match.

There'd been speculation the previous night as-to whether the plane that delivered the score after the England/ Sweden match would appear again. It didn't, but despite Big Brother's best efforts to shield the group from hearing, Sandy, Lee and Spencer heard someone shouting, "1-nil to England! Yeah!" from outside the compound.

One of the tabloids had once again succeeded in putting them out of their misery.
