Big Brother 4 Start Date Confirmed
Channel 4 has now confirmed the start date for the new 9-week
series of this summer's sure-fire TV 'hit', Big Brother 4.
It was originally speculated that this next series would go
ahead a week earlier than last year but in fact, it will start
in the same week as BB3, on Friday the 23rd of May 2003.
As with BB2, a pregnant Davina McCall is back as the face
of Big Brother UK and fans can see the 12 fresh contestants
enter the BB House for the first time live on Channel
4 at 8.30pm.
On their initial walk towards that famous stairway, all the
contestants will be thoroughly frisked by the Security 'chimps,
so expect some OTT 'grunting' as they check for hidden devices
and make the most of their own 15 minutes of fame!
There'll also be another C4 show later on aunch night, when
Davina will guide us through the newbie housemates' first
few hours together.
Other coverage? The familiar Geordie tones of Marcus Bentley
will narrate the usual 30-minute 'highlight' shows each weekday
evening on Channel 4, re-capping on the previous days events.
Dermot O'Leary's excellent fanzine show, 'Big Brother's Little
Brother', has been moved from digital channel e4 to mainstream
Channel 4 for this series. Dermot will present his 30-minute
show at teatime Monday to Friday, with an extended show on
Sundays.
It goes without saying that Davina will host all the Friday
night 'eviction' shows, which are once again broadcast in
two parts - before and after eviction. In the latter show,
the unlucky housemate given the 'boot by fans gets interrogated
for 'the full SP' by Davina.
Saturday night viewing will bring a live Task show on Channel
4. Unlike last year however, the housemates will be competing
for luxuries, not their food budget. The Main weekly
task will take place mid-week.
Aside from an extended BBLB, Sunday's schedule will see an
hour-long evening show during which the BB psychology boffins
offer comment on all the week's goings-on.
Finally, real fans will be pleased to hear that the absolutely
compelling live streaming will be back on digital channel
e4 this summer, broadcast live 'around the clock'. Joining
this streamed coverage will be a chance to see repeats of
the BBLB show each night and a show called 'Nominations Uncut'.
This new show goes out on Tuesday evenings and offers fans
a chance to see the full reasons behind the housemates' nominations
for that week. You wouldn't normally get to see this until
Wednesday's 'highlight' show on Channel 4 and even then, the
reasons are cut-down.
Phew-ee! Looks like the TV coverage for Big Brother 4 is 7
days a week, almost 24/7 if you want it to be... Hmm, do you
think that'll be enough?
So, Friday the 23rd of May. Channel 4. 8.30pm. Be there or,
um, be a boring old fart. Or something!
