The Latest News On Big Brother 4
As-always in the run-up to the start of Big Brother, bona-fide
news is a bit thin on the ground as everything becomes 'Top
Secret'. However, especially for you we've cobbled together
some facts and, most likely, some fiction surrounding the
forthcoming series of our favourite show. Read on...
Big Brother 4 will definitely be fronted by Davina
McCall and it is now believed that Dermot O'Leary has also
signed-up to present BBLB again. However, just in case the
pregnant Davina needs a rest towards the end of the series,
an 'understudy' is being lined-up.
Last time Davina was pregnant the understudy was Zoe Ball,
who was prepared to step-in at short notice. This time, Big
Brother 3 Winner Kate Lawler is on standby; the 23-year-old
has been groomed by Channel 4 to join breakfast show RI:SE
as co-host to Iain Lee later this month.
Pretty she may be, but frankly we're a little dubious as-to
the scale of Kate's talent as a TV presenter. If Davina has
to be replaced, then we'd much rather a 'proper' presenter
like Cat Deeley or Claudia Winkleman got the gig. Or even
a natural like BB2's Brian Dowling, who could take over Dermot's
BBLB show while he takes the reigns from Davina.
Anyway, we're sure that stalwart 'Mrs Decibel' (as we like
to affectionately call her) will last the distance, just like
the last time!
Due to Davina's pregnancy, the next series will probably start
a little earlier this year, sometime around the 16th or 23rd
of May. Series' 2 and 3 began in the last week of May, but
the original UK Big Brother started in the last week of June
2000.
The original series started with just 10 contestants, but
ended-up having a total of 11 due to Nasty Nick's cheating.
Series 2 was the same, with the eleventh person (Josh) being
introduced as a surprise. BB3 featured 12 contestants from
the start, although you will remember that two left and were
replaced. And the next series is set to start with 14 contestants
from the off, so expect someone to get the boot early-on!
This year, producers are looking for more "wit and warmth"
(fun and romance) in the house, which means that big-mouthed
characters like Jade are out, and jokers like Brian Dowling
are in. We're not entirely sure how the quota for 'obnoxious
b*stards' stands though!
Rumours? There are just too many to mention, however the two
most popular seem to revolve around the idea that this year's
housemates will get a pig to look after and a sauna to frolic
in.
Sources have indicated that the former rumour is likely to
have been borne out of the imagination of a fan who has somehow
managed to influence the press. But then again, perhaps the
producers will think it's a great idea and go with it?
Regarding
the steam room idea, we suspected this last year (click
here for our story from Week 6 of BB3) and our spies have
since managed to obtain the picture you see on the left. This
is Big Bro's control panel and it clearly shows a room named
'Bath'.
Hmm..., Big Bro denied it last year but that room, next to
the outside loo, remained locked throughout the entire last
series. So, it's looking very likely that a sauna is
there.
You may be wondering if the bars that divided the house during
BB3 will be back, but producers are said to have ditched the
idea this time around. Although highly controversial at first,
fans now acknowledge that the bars provided some excellent
TV, with bitching and arguments galore.
Right, that's it for now and don't forget that applications
closed a long time ago now and producers have all-but decided
on the final 14 contestants. So, if you sent off an application
and were still hoping to 'get the call', but you haven't even
attended an audition, it's fair to say that you won't be entering
the most famous house in Hertfordshire this summer!
