Big Brother Shortlisted In TV Awards
It's October. It's that time of year again... time for Judie
Finnigan to get her jugs out!
Of course, we're referring to the National Television Awards
where in 2000, the buxom chat show host's halter-neck dress
famously slipped-down as she accepted an Award for Richard
and Judy.
Still, hoping that someone will embarrass themselves isn't
the only reason to watch, as the Awards offer you the viewers
the chance to vote for your favourite TV shows. And that includes
Big Brother.
Big Brother is one of the shortlisted nominees this year,
however for some reason, it is in the category of Most Popular
Factual Programme. Hmm... isn't Big Brother merely an Entertainment
programme through and through?
To be honest, it should be in the category of Most Popular
Entertainment Programme and go head-to-head with the likes
of Pop Idol. However, according to the NTA organisers, Channel
4 were given the choice of which section to put BB in.
To us, this rather smacks of Channel 4 placing Big Brother
in a category which contains the least competition. However,
when challenged on this point, they neglected to comment.
So, for that reason, as much as we love Big Brother and remember
how we were addicted for 9 weeks during the summer, we won't
be voting for it. It's simply not fair competition.
We will, however, be voting for our Most Popular Entertainment
Presenter (see, Entertainment, bit of hint there C4?),
the one and only Davina McCall.
The National Television Awards take place at the Royal Albert
Hall on Tuesday 15th October and are transmitted on both ITV1
and ITV2.
